Hello, TBR Pile Challengers!
Yahoo! It’s time for our very first Checkpoint (with mini-challenge #1 — see below). I have also decided to extend the sign-up deadline to January 31st, so if you know of someone who would love to join and/or if you have been trying to make up your mind, here’s your chance P.S. This also means currently registered participants should feel free to make a change, up to January 31st, provided the link leads to an updated list as of that date.
So far, I’ve read 1 of my 12 required books. I’ve also started the second book on my list, Dean Koontz’s The Funhouse. I’ve actually never read a book by Dean Koontz, so hooray? I’m feeling pretty great about that because the new semester starts tomorrow and I never have a whole lot of time for pleasure reading while school is in session.
I plan (really, I do!) to read all 14 of the books on my list this year, the main 12 plus my 2 alternates, so getting a jump-start on this list before spring semester began was important.
Books read:
Below, you’re going to find the infamous Mr. Linky widget. If you read and review any challenge books this month, please link-up on the widget below. This Mr. Linky will be re-posted every month so that we can compile a large list of all that we’re reading and reviewing together this year. Each review that is linked-up on this widget throughout the year may also earn you entries into future related giveaways, so don’t forget to keep this updated!
As I mentioned in the Announcement post, there are four mini-challenges planned for this year. Our first checkpoint also brings with it the first mini-challenge!
Here’s the plan: Visit this link to see the list of linked-up participants. Travel around and leave a comment (or two, or five) with some encouragement for this new year and new challenge. Then, when you’re done, come on back to this post and comment with a link to the blog where you left your encouragement.
Everyone who spreads a little cheer and positivity to another challenger’s post(s) will be entered to win a book of choice, up to $15 USD, from The Book Depository! Comments need to be posted and linked-up here by the end of January and the winner, drawn randomly from the collection of comments, will be announced in the February checkpoint post. Only those who registered for the 2019 TBR Pile Challenge by January 31st are eligible to participate in these challenges and/or to win any of the TBR Pile prizes.
P.S. I’m going through the 2018 challenger posts and will announce the 2018 grand prize winner on February 15th! Stay tuned!
I have my book pulled for this month, still need to read it but will do that by the 31st. My comment to someone’s blog is this link (once it gets approved): https://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2018/12/the-official-2019-tbr-pile-challenge.html Thanks for the giveaway!

Wow, that came up quickly! Thanks for the reminder that we can change our lists for a while longer. The book I just finished was one I wished I had put on my list for this challenge, so with that reminder, I added it in! So that means I’ve completed one: Annabel Lee by Mike Nappa. “Fast-paced thrillers” with a side of scary aren’t my usual fare, but someone I knew recommended this. It was hard to put down! I’ve also started If I Run by Terri Blackstock.

Thank you for extending the time for the sign-up for the TBR Challenge. I’ve got all of my books pretty much picked out, and planned on detailing them on my blog tonight, but am glad for an extra couple of days.
And I will post about the extension–maybe we can pick up another reader (or two).

I’m about halfway through one of the shorter books on my list. Well, that’s something at least, isn’t it?!
I’ve been having a great time reading the lists. I’ve already commented on a couple:

Maybe I’ve done some others, I forget…

I’ve finished 2 books on my list so far — what? what!? Yep. I’ve surprised even myself. We’ll see how long into the year this lasts. 🙂 I just need to write the reviews and post them online — SOON!

I’m normally racing out of the gate, but I just started my first book for the challenge yesterday. It was actually a teen book so I already finished it moments ago, but it was by far the shortest and easiest book on my list. I started the year with a pile of other books waiting for me, but I couldn’t let January end without finishing one!
I just left a comment here: https://libriamicimiei.blogspot.com/2019/01/2019-tbr-pile-challenge.html

Thanks for hosting the challenge — I had a lot of fun going through my languishing TBR list and have already finished one (it was pretty skinny, but hey — I had been thinking of reading it for years and now I finally did). I hope to be reviewing it soon (I’m trying not to be so lazy about my reviews).
I’ve also had fun visiting various blogs & checking out others’ lists. I’ve left comments at the following:

I’ve not started this particular challenge yet, but I’ve finished two books for other challenges! I’m hoping to start my first book for this challenge in February.
My comment is “Allison” on Joel’s excellent blog.

I’ve finished two on my list and have posted one review (should have the second posted this week) and I’m trying to decide on the next book from my list. They’re all nonfiction this year and I’ve since realized that most of them are quite similar, so I’ll need to spread them out somewhat. And some of them are really long! But I am determined to read all of them plus the the two alternates.

Oops, I mistakenly linked to the same post twice! #71 and #81 are for the same review of The Bolter — can you delete one of them? Sorry about that!
