Hello, TBR Pile Challengers! 

Yahoo! We’re 25% of the way into the TBR Pile Challenge and it is now time for our second mini-challenge with giveaway! We have 100+ participants this year, with nearly 90 reviews posted already. This is fantastic! I hope you’re having a good time making progress through your own TBR piles. 

Question of the Month

Have you discovered any new favorite authors as a result of the TBR Pile Challenge? Read an author you’ve never read before but definitely want to again? Share! 

My Progress: 4 of 12 Completed / 3 of 12 Reviewed

So far, I’ve read 4 of my 12 required books and have reviewed 3 of them. This is good progress, I think, but I’m feeling a bit disappointed that I haven’t made any progress since last month. Oh well! 4 of 12 = 33%, which means I am still technically ahead of schedule since we’re just now hitting the 25% marker. That said, I do want to read both of my alternate books, which means I’m really aiming for a “14 out of 12” completion. Summer is coming and the odds are I will completely most, if not all, of my challenge between mid-May and mid-August. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I have a feeling I’ll get to at least 6 of my challenge books during that time. Come on, summer!

  1. I am not doing very well at all with this challenge so far, which is not surprising, but I am still hopeful for the future! Special projects and what-not will theoretically calm down soon. I’m planning on reading one of my TBR Pile books during the Readathon on the 28th.

  2. Great job staying on track! I’m doing all right, maybe one book behind where I’d like to be. The last TBR book I read was Homegoing, my 3rd for the challenge, which was beautiful and I loved it. I noticed it’s on a lot of people’s challenge lists!

  3. I’ve finished 4 titles, so officially 1/3 through but I too want to read all 14. So far they are mostly not new authors to me, but the one I have in progress is. He’s a 19th century Polish poet, Adam Mickiewicz. While I’m enjoying the prose English translation of his poetic Polish epic, I probably won’t be reading more of his works….

  5. I’ve read six so far and reviewed five of them! I’ll hopefully be posting my sixth review today or tomorrow, I’m still collecting my thoughts. And I’ve spread the love this morning and commented on four postings by Fanda, Lost in Literature, and Ada @ litcritpop. Thanks again for the monthly check-ins, it’s always fun to see how everyone else is doing.

  8. I’ve read 10 of the 14 – there’s nothing like a list and a deadline to drive me! 🙂 I’m pretty much concentrating on my challenge books first before reading anything else. I read G. K. Chesterton for the first time and definitely want to read more. I also read for the first time a book by Edward Payson Roe (sometimes listed as Edward P. Roe) who wrote in the late 1800s. I just loved his story, so I hope to read more of him, too.

  10. I have read none of my TBR books so far (my PhD derailed my entire life for a couple of months), but my thesis is now submitted and I am very excited about picking this up!

  12. I’ve read four (Homegoing, The News of the World, Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist, and The Sympathizer) and am currently reading number five (Family Matters). Unfortunately, I haven’t had a spare second to write reviews of any of them, but they were all terrific!

  14. Compared to my typical year-long challenge success, I’m doing pretty well, with 4 of 12 (okay, 14–I want to get to all of them too) already finished. I just haven’t been doing too great with the blog posts! That will be one of May’s goals.

  17. This has been such a fun challenge for me, and I’m happy that I’ve reviewed 5 of my 12 selections. I should have some additional time over the summer so here’s hoping I can complete all 12 by then.It’s been so great learning about new authors, as I definitely want to read more Calvino in the future. I’m curious about reading more from Dodie Smith after finishing ‘I Capture the Castle.’
