Adding myself to the mix here – what an excellent idea – the saddest part is that I OWN all these awesome books I keep meaning to read yet I keep ignoring them for books I check out at the library. So I love adding this goal to my other goal (50 books in 2011)
We can do it! Don’t give up! I think I’m working on #6 right now… just make sure to pick from your list from here on out. If you do those first, you might even finish with time to spare at the end of the year (then you can go back and read some of the other random stuff that catches your attention – which has been happening to me all year!) lol
Oh, no – I’m afraid to read the review! I won the book a few months ago but haven’t had a chance to read it… Sounds good but I keep stumbling across spoilers! Lol
Awesome! Congratulations! I’m reading my last one (Ragtime) right now. How was Madame Bovary? I started it years ago but only read the first 10-20 pages or so… don’t think I was ready for it.
I just finished the last of the 12 books – I was hoping to read the 2 alternates too, but have run out of time, and they’ll be first on the list for the 2012 challenge. Thanks for this great challenge, I’m really looking forward to doing it again!
I finally finished! I had a few reviews left, but I posted them and I have officially completed the challenge. I’ve updated my page with all of the links and completion dates.
This challenge pushed me to read some books I’ve been meaning to read for a while. Some have become favorites. Thanks for hosting Adam. Below is the link.
Well, I finished 11 of the 12 and both alternates. I picked up that 12th book (Those Who Save Us) so many times during the year, but it just never felt right. Thanks for the challenge Adam! My link: http://www.sarahreadstoomuch.com/p/books-tbr-challenge.html
I just saw that you are currently readng The Handmaid’s Tale. I read that in high school and I think nearly had a religious experience I loved it so much. I then devoured everything Atwood wrote for the next few years and was even fortunate enough to hear her speak in person at a Writers Week event. I can’t wait to read your review! 🙂
I finished my first on my list a couple weeks ago but just put up the review, here.
I have a quick question/concern. When looking through the list of participants, I don’t see myself listed. I’m sure I signed up in the beginning but I can’t seem to find my blog listed. =/ Did I miss some step in the process? Any help would be much appreciated.
Since I’m too late to get in on this, I have made my own plan for the next year (school year starting up with the kids is a good time to start) to read 12 books that I already own. I buy so many books! I’m enjoying your blog so much!
Can’t believe I took so long to read it, I seriously have owned this book for almost 20 years. Read nearly the whole thing in one day and I really liked it! That’s 8/12 for me.
I fell behind during a mid-year cross country move, but I am doing my best in the end game here. Just finished #6, so I get to double up for my final three months!
Each of my twelve was a book that I’ve deliberately avoided for some reason, so I shouldn’t be surprised that it takes some doing to actually pick one of them up, but I’ve still only finished four (reading the fifth, The Woman in White); I’m not sure I’ll make it! *bites nail*
Hah! I was just having this conversation on Twitter the other day, with a couple other challengers. There’s a reason we bought/asked for these books & a reason we’ve hung onto them over the years – just keep that in mind when you’re feeling like you don’t want to read them. You DO want to read them, or you did. And, you never know, you might just end up with a new surprise-favorite! (It has happened to me – this year, in fact!)
I have just finnished one before Thanksgiving that I have to do a review on and then I have two left to read. I moved my blog so I am now at wordpress http://nulaanne.wordpress.com/tbr-book-list/
I have finished my list. 13 out of 14. Whew!! I actually finished a while back, but was extremely lazy in reviewing the books; they stayed on my “currently reading” shelf up until a few days ago.
I admit to being clueless on how to link individual reviews. Here is my TBR2012 page with my ratings and links to the reviews THERE. http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/2589014-kathy?order=a&shelf=tbr-challenge-2012&sort=title
Hm, I thought I had left a commente here re: my final progress but I guess not! I managed 9 of 12 which is an improvement, albeit a minor one, over my 8 read for 2011’s challenge. I read about 1/5 of the way into one of my books but just never got in the mood for it, the same happened with The Once and Future King even though I had it signed out for four months from the library…..Of the books I did read, I particularly enjoyed Animal Farm (just as good as Nineteen Eighty-four, I think) and liked most of the rest.
I am terrible at finishing challenges. I read only two off my pile for last year’s challenge and this year I have just challenged myself personally to get a few more whittled away.
Looks like I am going to fail miserable again! In 2012 I read 4. So far, I have read 3, but think I can get two or three more done. Maybe I will succeed next year?

Hi! Enjoyed the review and am enjoying the Challenge. I’m a little behind — just finished No. 3 (I’m doing two challenges, so it’s a little slow). I’ve been trying to link my reviews but am not sure I’m doing it right. Anyway, here’s the link to my “master list” of books I selected for the Challenge; the list contains links to the individual reviews. https://youmightaswellread.com/2019/01/07/will-my-vaulting-amibition-overreach-itself-like-poor-macbeths-or-will-i-prevail/
